Vera Unveiled

One of our lovely past brides, Vivian was recently featured on the exclusive wedding blog, Vera Unveiled. Vivian, who now runs a vintage event rentals company, Etablir Shop, has an extraordinary sense of style, and we knew that the gown she chose would make quite the statement!

Below are a couple of photos and excerpts from the interview between Vera Unveiled and Vivian, as well as her gorgeous wedding photos by Max Wanger. For the full article, click here.

Once the wedding plans started, what made you decide on a Vera Wang gown? I was online searching for gowns through Google and found this amazing dress. The moment I saw it I could NOT take my eyes off of it. The bow was the first thing that caught my attention because I LOVE bows. When I clicked on the photo, I found out the designer was Vera Wang. I thought “of course it is, Vera Wang is amazing”. I absolutely fell in love with it because it represented who I am as a person.  I called the only Vera Wang boutique in California and all the designer boutiques. I became very discouraged because there was no availability of the Dawn dress. I gave up looking for this dress and started trying a few other dresses, but every time I tried on a dress I would keep thinking of the Dawn dress. Then one day I was online and found a photo of Vera Wang looking at the Dawn dress when she was celebrating her legendary label with an exhibition at Bloomingdale’s. I immediately thought of ALL the dresses, why is she photographed only looking at this dress! This motivated me to continue my search for the dress. My husband knew how much I loved this dress, so he called Vera Wang in New York and gave me the number. I called the New York flagship store and when they told me the sample is available and will have it shipped to LA, I was so ecstatic! So, I really have to thank my husband for always trying to make me happy. I got my dream dress because of him.

What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding? The inspiration of our wedding came from the venue itself. Vibiana was formerly known as the cathedral church building and parish of the Roman Catholic Archdocese of LA by the name of St. Vibiana. We wanted to respect the historical elements of this space and decided to match the decor accordingly with vintage pieces. During the time we were planning the wedding I was also in the middle of starting vintage rental business, Etablir so I started shopping at antique stores, thrift stores, estate sales, and more. Every piece we used, I wanted to make sure that Etablir would be able to showcase as the first post in the blog to make more significance out of it. If you search for a picture of St. Vibiana in the late 1800s, you’ll see two candelabras placed on the alter and that was around the same spots they were placed during our ceremony.

The Making of the Blissful Wishes Ball

This touching video brought to us by Isabel Cinematheque perfectly captures the making of the Wish Upon a Wedding’s Blissful Wishes Ball that we hosted earlier last month. The evening was filled with joy and laughter and was made even more spectacular with the special appearance of one of the wish recipients at the Ball.

A huge thank you to all the individuals who donated their time and their  services to such a wonderful cause.
