The Good Beginning

thegoodbeginninginstagramThe Good Beginning is a a new online registry where couples who either have everything they could ever want or simply want to start their wedding off by giving back, can register for donations to their favorite charities in lieu of or in addition to the typical salad bowl or toaster. The registry allows couples to either choose from a list of featured organizations or upload their own personal favorites and then create a personal portal that they can embed into your wedding website or share directly with guests. Alternatively guests can also go to the site and search for each couple by name.
In addition to the registry feature, The Good Beginning will feature fashion, design and wedding planning tips on how to easily plan a socially conscious wedding including ideas like this post on Ethiopian bridesmaids gifts where one bride gave each bridesmaid a pendant that pays 6 months worth of salary for a teacher in Ethiopia.
We love this concept as there is no time like the beginning of a marriage to start the ritual of giving back and doing good in the world. Register or learn more at www.thegoodbeginning.com.

Vibiana Preferred Planner Guest Blog: Tara Dowburd Luxury / Make-up Therapy – Part III

As the iconic beauty, British actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn said “Happy girls are the prettiest girls”. Well on your wedding day, one of the happiest days that many of us have dreamt about since a young age, Audrey knew exactly what she was talking about.

Myself and my Beauty Team’s mission is all about helping our happy brides understand that when they are choosing their make-up and hair style for their wedding day, it’s always best to enhance your beauty and fabulous unique features, so that you look and feel the most beautiful, happiest and “best version of you”. If you normally don’t wear any make-up or your make-up style is classic natural, glamorous, vintage, retro, pin-up, flirty romantic and more: honestly it’s most important to stay true to your comfort level and how you feel the prettiest you, especially on a day that will be photographed and on video, that you will look back on for many years to come.

Doing your research, by looking at resources such as: bridal and lifestyle magazines, wedding blogs, the runway, Instagram, Pinterest and red carpet looks, these are all fantastic ways to get inspired about the “look” you want for your wedding day. Some of our favorite resources are: California Wedding Day, Inside Weddings Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, Brides Magazine, Green Wedding Shoes, Carats and Cake, Style Me Pretty, Snippet and Ink, Grey Likes Weddings, Bazaar Magazine, InStyle Magazine, Allure Magazine and US Weekly. Also googling a celebrity that you feel you either look like or love their look, can also be very helpful.

Once you find images that you love, then let it translate to your personal preference, personal style and comfort level with wearing make-up. Make-up can be transforming, but shouldn’t take over and make you look totally different and unrecognizable, especially on your wedding day. When applied correctly, make-up is all about enhancing what you have, ie. your eye color, eye shape, skin tone, amazing cheekbones, full lips, fabulous brows, etc.

We love when our brides share images with us, that when they look at the image it emulates the look and feel of how they want their make-up and hair to look for their special day. When we take care of our brides for their rehearsal dinner, we’ll usually do a different look than the wedding day, so they can have fun with it, ie. maybe more glam for the rehearsal dinner and then classic modern for the wedding day or vice versa.

Here’s a variety of some of our favorite gorgeous bridal looks we’ve done…
