History of Vibiana

The history of the Cathedral is an interesting and storied one, originally erected in honor of St. Vibiana, the Patron Saint of the Nobodies. Completed in 1876, the former Cathedral is one of Los Angeles’ few remaining nineteenth-century landmarks. Known simply today as Vibiana, the-cathedral-turned-event-venue hosts a wide range of affairs including galas, weddings, fundraisers, fashion shows, film shoots and performance art and art shows. Great care was taken over several decades to restore and keep original historic details intact. The rectory building, originally constructed in 1934, now houses Redbird with its Main Dining Room, lounge, secret garden and five private dining rooms upstairs. In July of 2019, Redbird | Vibiana received the Los Angeles Conservancy’s Preservation Award’s Chair’s Award for adaptive reuse of the property.

Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll

In 2012 Los Angeles restauranteurs Chef Neal Fraser and Amy Knoll took over the operation of Vibiana, transforming the stunning full-service event facility by adding a state of the art lighting and sound system, high quality, custom rental equipment, a seasoned and talented event management staff and an extensive dining and craft libations program. Knoll and Fraser's guest-first, holistic approach to hospitality, with every detail considered, comes through each and every event at Vibiana and their adjacent flagship restaurant Redbird. Redbird is recognized by the Michelin Guide (California) and 50 Best Discovery.
