How did you get into your career in Events?
I discovered my passion for events during my years at UC Berkeley, where I was a catering server to earn extra income, gaining first hand insight into event logistics and culinary operations. I also took on roles chairing several planning committees for events around campus. After graduating, I landed my first job as an event producer at a boutique PR firm in Los Angeles. In 2017, I took the leap of faith to open Harutyunyan Events.

What do you enjoy most about working Events?
My late mother instilled in me a deep love for hospitality from a young age. To me, hospitality is more than just an industry - it’s an art form, an act of love. It’s about creating unforgettable moments for the people we cherish most, ensuring they leave with lifetime memories. As a planner, I have the privilege of designing experiences that transport guests to another world—thrilling, delighting, and bewitching them at every turn. It’s a demanding and high-pressure career, but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

What are some challenges you face when working on Events and how do you adapt in the moment?
The emotional weight of planning events can create immense pressure, but I’ve learned that beyond my organizational skills and creativity, my clients look to me for trust, guidance, and reassurance. I train myself to be deeply attuned to what my clients want, need, and expect. This allows me to adapt in the moment and make decisions that keep them happy. I always remind my clients: unexpected challenges will arise. My job is to make sure that when they do, they are fully supported, with an advocate who is always one step ahead, resolving issues before they become problems. And above all, success in this industry depends on the people you work with. A network of dedicated, talented, and professional vendors is the foundation of every successful event.
